Justin James Reed, Realtor with Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville Real Estate
Justin was born in Portland, Oregon and has been fortunate to live in such far-flung locations as Walla Walla, Washington and New York City. His experiences living, working and studying across the country have given him a deep understanding of the joys and challenges of finding and establishing one's place in a new community. He spent the first part of his professional career in the fine arts and academia, a path that ultimately led him to Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts. While at VCU, he served as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Photography & Film. His artistic work has been published and exhibited widely, in addition to being included in such prestigious collections as the Library of Congress' Rare Book and Special Collections, The Museum of Modern Art Library and Yale University's Art Gallery.
Constantly looking for new challenges and having grown up in a family that pursued residential and commercial development, Justin eventually found his interests being drawn back into the world of real estate and investing. His background allows him a unique and focused approach, one that centers around not only finding his clients the perfect home or investment opportunity, but also exploring how these goals can be fully integrated into their lives and personal passions. He is deeply committed to working closely with his clients, discovering their specific real estate needs and helping them explore how they can be met within the central Virginia region.
His drive and appreciation for real estate led him to relocate and live in many of the area's dynamic neighborhoods, including Woodland Heights, The Fan, Ginter Park, Forest Hill and now Westham. In addition, he and his wife Elizabeth, who was born and raised in Richmond, have pursued different home renovation projects in Westover Hills and the Northern Neck. All of this has afforded him a deep personal understanding of place and possibility, one that he revels in bringing to his clients.
Justin loves spending time with their son, a piano and music major attending high school at one of the region's Governor's Schools, and 3 rambunctious rescue pups. He is an active participant in the energetic local art scene and is constantly striving to find the best new restaurants, of which there are many. Additionally, he feels unending gratitude for the many natural and outdoor spaces that make living here a truly wonderful and fulfilling experience.
