Westmoreland County
Westmoreland County was the birthplace of George Washington, the first President of the United States ; of James Monroe, the fifth President; and of General Robert E. Lee. There is much to see and explore in this lovely part of the Northern Neck. With a population of over 18,000 people, the county remains a largely agricultural area with a thriving tourism industry due to the significant historical sites and proximity to the Potomac River. There are also vineyards, breweries, and a fantastic state park to explore. Areas to explore: Montross, Kinsale, Colonial Beach, Coles Point
