The prospect of spending a sizable portion of one's life savings on a single investment is a little bit overwhelming to say the least. Fortunately, we had the privilege of working with Eliza Conrad who successfully found us our dream home! Location was a big factor for us and finding a home at a reasonable price that suited our needs and fell within our narrow parameters was a formidable challenge that Eliza pursued with tenacity and professionalism. As a Richmond native, Eliza affords an extensive spectrum of local knowledge to her clients, which proved extremely beneficial to us in some of toughest decision-making moments. In early 2020, we became sole owners of a family property on the Northern Neck — rich in waterfront, very humble in structures. It had been on the market with a major Richmond firm for years. But far as we knew, it had never had even a nibble.

That long time listing was expiring. Based on what I’d learned of Doug Dorsey from reading BizSense, I thought he could help us. We emailed him in February 2020. A great online conversation ensued. Doug went down and had a look at the land. The one guideline we issued was that this was NOT a property that could be sold with pretty pictures alone. Doug told us not to worry. “I take the property to the buyer,” he said. That sounded mighty like a slogan — maybe a meaningless one? But we signed papers in March — days after Covid lockdown began. And in April Doug, having done exactly what he said he would do, brought us an excellent offer. A bit of back and forth, all of which worked to our advantage, followed. We closed in June. (Actually, everyone was more than willing to close earlier, but the Northumberland Courthouse was locked tight.)

All of which is to say, Doug Dorsey is THE BEST. (And have you seen his watercolors? What a talent.)

Bridget was an absolute joy to work with. She helped us buy our home in midst of a pandemic and a crazy housing market and showed us innumerable homes over an 8 month period as well as helped us with putting in offers on multiple homes. She was incredibly patient with us as first time homebuyers and responsive around the clock. I really trusted her advice when looking at homes as well - she has a great eye for potential problems that I would never have noticed and is incredibly committed to finding her clients the right home for them. She has a wealth of knowledge about the Richmond area and various neighborhoods. As if that is not enough, she is also delightful to spend time with and makes a stressful and overwhelming process fun. I would not hesitate to recommend her to absolutely anyone.
