Visit the world-class water parks
Have some fun at Greater Williamsburg’s two water parks, namely Water Country USA and Great Wolf Lodge.
Water Country USA is Virginia’s largest water park, and is equipped with first-class resort-style amenities and a thrilling selection of water rides, including the famous Colossal Curl. The Great Wolf Lodge is equally popular – this sprawling indoor water park resort also features incredible water attractions, including the Slap Tail Pond wave pool, the River Canyon Run, and the six-story Howlin’ Tornado.
Bikers can soak in a one-of-a-kind experience by zipping through over 109 miles of scenic biking trails, which are maintained by the National Park Service. Since 2013, the city has been names a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, which makes it a great place to live for bike enthusiasts.
Williamsburg’s AleWerks Brewing Company produces some of the best craft beers in Virginia. In 2015, three of their beers swept the Virginia Craft Brewers cup, winning the gold, silver, and bronze awards. Their six signature brews are available year round, and they offer seasonal brews as well.
Get to see active excavation sites and learn more about recent archaeological discoveries by joining a tour of Jamestown Island. Explore the excavation sites and watch ongoing archaeological digs while being guided by a member of the Jamestown Rediscovery team.
